How does it Work?

Split domain routing is a technique used in email delivery to allow multiple email service providers to handle different parts of an email delivery process. Sometimes described as dual delivery or multiple delivery, it means with a single domain different users can login into different email service providers and access email services.

In split domain routing, the email domain is configured to use multiple separate email services simultaneously. And they can be on cloud or on premises too.

For example, suppose a company wants to use Microsoft Office 365 for incoming email delivery and Gmail for outgoing email delivery. In that case, the company would set up the domain to split email delivery between the two services.

When someone sends an email to a recipient at the company's domain, the email is initially received by the MX record of the domain, which points to the email service handling incoming emails. That service processes the email and decides whether to deliver it to a local mailbox or forward it to another email address. If the email is a reply or a message sent by someone at the company, it is sent via the outgoing email service.

By using split domain routing, the company can take advantage of the strengths of different email services while minimizing their weaknesses, and optimize costs.

It is important to implement email authentication mechanisms such as DKIM, SPF, ARC, BIMI and DMARC to prevent unauthorized email messages from being sent from your domain and to improve email deliverability.

Netzary offers you all these as a Managed Service at no Extra Costs.
